The holidays are just around the corner! Guess that was means in the life of a designer. Designs for the holidays galore. Everywhere you look people are thinking ahead to make sure deadlines are met for holiday promotions. It not a bad thing just funny how cyclical life is probably in every profession in someway or another. This was a project I did for a freelance client in Orlando.

I just recently launched my photography site. Now, I know what you are thinking there are some amazing Orlando Photographers out there. If I must say so myself my works not too shabby and it's getting better all the time (oh, wait that's Winn Dixie's slogan). The site will be constantly tweaked for a while as it's still a work in progress and as they say an artists work is never done! As of now it's up for the world to see. Check out my work. Zoo

Who doesn't love the zoo? Well, it was a joy working on this ad. We got to visit the zoo and hang out with the elephants and actually pet their trunks. It a pretty amazing animal and an unforgettable experience.

OCPS

This is a brochure that I did for OCPS it has since evolved from a full vector layout to incorporate people. There are three companion brochures to go along with this for each campus. It was a fun project and interesting to learn about OCPS and the programs that it offers.

Concepts for MS

This was a for an internal annual meeting for MS. To celebrate those who come together to raise awareness and funds for MS. The meeting needed to be themed. I came up with a fictitious name to set a theme. I also concepted and executed the copy and design. This theme was established and then concepts were provided to be carried out during the meeting.

I got the opportunity to work on establishing a brand for a boutique line of kids clothing. I did a photo shoot a few weeks ago and I enjoyed being behind the lens. The project is a work in progress but I have been involved in the entire branding process to date and it is nice to see it getting off the ground. Last year I stumbled across a kick ass photographer, Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir who I respect to no end. I thought I would share her work in hopes of spreading a little inspiration. She actually lived in Florida for a while and is from Iceland. I have heard the light is amazing in Iceland and her photos are proof of that.

I for one love team building. It motivates and brings everyone together, it can achieve so much just though simple interaction. Our team came up with an idea for an internal team building game that involved this laminated poster and some dry erase markers. Questions included with the game involved HD's culture and work related activities.

This was one version of an invitation that I did for CTI. The card at the bottom actually slides into the main piece at the top. It's self containing which worked well as they were hand delivering the piece. Once again this version did not make the final cut. They choose a more masculine piece which I think served its purpose and was a lovely design as well.

He began his career six years ago at Templin Brink Design, with principles Gaby Brink and Joel Templin. As the core designer there, and at times the only designer, he played an integral part in setting the tone of this influential studio and has had the opportunity to work on branding, packaging and advertising for an extremely diverse clientele. His projects have ranged from small, boutique-like packaging to large-scale branding and advertising campaigns for companies like Oracle, Apple, and Target. His bold, illustrative work is both sophisticated and down-to-earth and has won him industry awards on a regular basis. He was recently included in PRINT's 2004 top 20 visual artists under the age of 30.

The 16th Annual Florida Film Festival will take place March 23 - April 1, 2007

I personally had the opportunity to go to the opening night of the film festival and it was a night not to be missed. I strongly recommend checking out a film or two while the festival is going on.

This was for Florida Hospital and breast cancer awareness. It was a simple message but I thought it was strong visually and in the copy. These are all people in the marketing office. They were my volunteers for the day. It was a fun shoot and even though they choose a different concept...I really like this one, so why not show it! This was only a comp and that's what is so nice about having a photographer at your finger tips.

I did this for the Catholic Diocese. I love this version because the photography is so intense, they did go in this direction but they used different photos and a different color palette. This piece will help get donations for the church. It's funny, I went to church for my husband's cousin who was receiving his confirmation and saw this postered all over the church. I love it when I get to see my designs out in the world, rather than just at my desk!

I tend to have a special place in my heart for what I like to call the red headed step child. You know that design that you loved and wanted so badly to go to print but the client ended up hating it. This is one of those and yes I can draw when given a little time.

This was a freelance project that was a breath of fresh air. It was a great concept. The writer collected advice from couples who had been married for more than 50 years. She took their quote, added a photo and the couples wedding date.

Addy Win!

I won an Addy recently and I thought I would share a few pages from the piece that won me my coveted award! For two days I art directed a photo shoot for truckers and their trucks. I collected materials from their office and shot everything that looked interesting so that I could make this annual report something special. Something that they weren't used to seeing and that this small trucking company could be proud of. The experience was great!

I was completely and utterly consumed with making this event happen for a while and it was the only thing on the brain. It was a great event and I loved being apart of the concepting and photo shoot.

Brook Pifer is a killer photographer who I have great respect for. She went above and beyond and I can't thank her enough for her efforts. She makes me want to pursue photography! Here are a few outtakes from the photo shoots.

Ready for the World

There is so much potential in design. From something as small as a voting ballet to a billboard in Times Square. Design is a form of communication and if done effectively it can change perceptions, change minds, bring an issue top of mind and change the world.

I am not a designer who has worldly exposure but I do feel strongly that the way I design something can effect how the content is communicated to its audience. I am here to share my work with whomever is interested. I believe in the potential of design and instilling an understanding of that potential in my fellow peeps.
